Earlier this year, we made comments on the trend of travel nurses using RVs to see the country and as a place to call home while on the road. One of the details we didn’t touch on at that time was the effect that RVing has on the housing that you would normally be offered.
One of the big differences between RVing and accepting housing from an agency is that you are solely
responsible for finding a place to park your RV while on assignment. Because of the unique needs you’ll have with an RV, you should be searching for adequate locations even before you submit your application for an assignment.
While the cost of renting a spot and hooking up your RV varies from site-to-site and state-to-state, we’ve been finding that most travel nurse staffing agencies are willing to either pay their travelers with a housing stipend or offer them higher hourly rates.
Even with today’s high gas prices and little ability to predict future prices, travel nurses seem to have a passion for hitting the road with their ‘home.’
For those of you reading this from your rolling living room, here are some web resources that could help you find the best rates and make the most of life on the road.
