And you Thought Being a Travel Nurse Was Tough?

A 20-year-old nursing student from Barrie, Ontario Canada has become one of the youngest people ever to climb Mount Everest. After climbing for over a month and a half, Laura Mallory reached the peak and phoned her mother to share the good news.

Laura attends the collaborative Fanshawe College/University of Western Ontario Nursing program.

On her expedition’s website, she states that her burning desire as a nurse is to “…achieve a lifelong goal of helping people live a happier healthier life.” Considering she’s climbed to the top of Mt. Everest, she’s also summited Mt. Elbrus (18,510 ft.) and Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,342 ft.) So the next time you think being a travel nurse is tough, think about how far Laura has traveled - and she’s not even done with nursing school yet.
