Valentine’s Day Ideas For Travel Nurses

A Valentine’s Day away for travel nurses.travel-nurse-valentine

As a travel nurse, spending Valentine’s Day on-assignment away from loved ones and your significant other isn’t the best situation. But as a travel nurse, it’s probably a reality you’ll face if you haven’t already. Fortunately, with the Internet and a little creativity, being a travel nurse doesn’t mean you have feel so apart from loved ones on February 14th.

Option #1: Let your voice be the first thing they hear.
Start off simply (yet effectively) by calling to say “I love you” first thing in the morning. This wake-up call will get your significant other’s Valentine’s Day off to the perfect start. A few loving text message spread throughout the day don’t hurt either.

Option #2: Send a Valentine’s Day care package.
Write loving notes to your Valentine on nice paper, or write down some romantic poetry. Put each note in its own envelope and send them in a box to your special someone wherever they happen to be.

Or, if you’re not a big fan of writing, try putting together a box of your loved one’s favorite treats. Candy, chocolate, some candles, some wine - and then you can share them at the same time over the phone or instant messenger. Make sure your beloved recipient gets the package by using a reputable delivery service. If you have webcams you can virtually see each other and it’ll feel like you’re in the same room even though you could be thousands of miles away on a travel nurse assignment.

Option #3: Stick to the traditional Valentine’s Day treats.
If you’re not one for planning, writing, packing and shipping, you can always go the traditional route of picking some flowers and/or chocolates online, and having them sent directly to the object of your affection. You can find some great options online at places like Harry and David or 1-800-flowers.com.

Option #4: The greatest gift of all - YOU!

Valentine’s Day can be as good as you want it to be when you’re a travel nurse. If you don’t have a significant other and are looking for someone to hang out with, you can always try the Craigslist personals for your area. But regardless, it’s all about doing something from your heart, regardless of the size of the gesture. As long as you put a smile on their face. Life as a travel nurse isn’t easy when it comes to holiday and missing the special people in your life.
