Paperwork Tips For Travel Nurses Part IV

Here’s some no-nonsense advice for travel nurses to help keep track of your receipts for a smoother tax time.

Keep all your receipts in 12 envelopes or an accordion folder with enough pockets for 12 months. This makes it easy for you to find a particular receipt should you need it.

During my first two years as a travel nurse, I used Quicken to keep track of my expenses, etc. I found it to be very time-consuming and actually unnecessary for taxes, since I rarely spent more than the government allowance. I found myself a reliable tax accountant for travel nurses, and their fee ranges from $350 to $650 depending on how many state returns I have to file. The fee is usually tax-deductible, but check with your tax accountant before hand and be sure they have experience filing tax returns for travel nurses.
