Must Haves For All Traveling Nurses

Travel nurses tend to travel light. It’s a fact of life for travel nurses who typically spend three months on an assignment before they pack up and move on to the next hospital or care facility. Regardless of how long you spend on an assignment as a travel nurse, there are certain things you need, regardless of the type of assignment:

  • Uniforms/scrubs
  • Work shoes
  • Work accessories: stethoscope, scissors, pocket light, calculator, etc)
  • Casual clothes, coats and shoes
  • Toiletries
  • Hairdryer, curling iron, travel sewing kit iron and ironing board
  • Laptop and printer
  • Your portable filing system for important travel nurse paperwork
  • Camera, MP3 player, alarm clock and cell phone/charger
  • AAA membership card
  • RN licenses
  • Passport (always a good idea to have in case you travel to Canada or Mexico, and is considered one of the best ways to prove identity
  • Birth certificate
  • Immunization records
  • CEU records
